Washbasins and sinks with classical water fittings, regulated in a common way, are a source of transfer of bacteria remaining on the surface, and if the kitchen or preparation area is requented by more persons such bacteria transfers are quite probable. New sanitation standards already existing in certain European countries, or currently under preparation, require that each workplace be equipped with these contactless (hand contact) stainless-steel washbasins.
A simple mechanism is fitted under the washbasin - pushing the shaped stainless-steel front lever with one’s knee opens a special valve, so-called “mixer”, which “mixes” hot and cold water (connected to the supply valve) to desired temperature. This valve opens the water supply which then supplies water to the washbasin in the usual way. When the front lever is released the valve is immediately closed.
